| Job Description: |
• 6-8 lessons/week • To ensure high-quality teaching and learning in secondary, leading the HOD’s in ensuring high standards of planning, mapping, data analysis and implementation across all departments. • To lead on all aspects related to the secondary academic programme, including exams, subject electives, reporting, CPD and parent communication related to academics. • Working as part of the Lingang Leadership Team (LLT), reporting to the Co-Principals & VP. • Ultimately seeing students thrive in their academic programme.
Detailed Responsibilities (Secondary Leadership / Academic Support) 1) Examinations (CAIE & Internal) • Lead and coordinate CAIE exam withdrawal requests. • Manage and support CAIE exam entries and related processes. • Oversee exam invigilation and daily organisation setup for both CAIE and internal assessments (including CAIE & Internal). • Coordinate internal and CAIE exam timetables and distribution. • Coordinate CAIE correspondence and ensure timely communication. • Manage parent communications related to CAIE and internal examinations, including catch-up exam organisation. • Support exam paper preparation, storage, moderation, and verification processes for both CAIE and internal assessments. • Organise CIE examination training (including invigilator training, timetables, and invigilator arrangements where needed).
2) Curriculum, Subjects & Student Pathways • Support curriculum mapping, planning, and management systems (e.g., Managebac). • Stay up-to-date with changes and developments in IGCSE, AS, and A Level. • Support subject fair activities and student elective sign-up processes. • Coordinate taster lessons during open days. • Manage transition events across G5–G6, G8–IG1, and IG2–AS (with relevant coordinators). • Support student withdrawals from subjects/electives and follow-up actions. • Coordinate MAD & electives arrangements (including elective-related student support and planning).
3) Data, Reporting & Quality Assurance • Check and validate academic reports and ensure data accuracy. • Lead academic data analysis (exam analysis and next-step actions) and communicate outcomes. • Oversee exam moderation processes. • Support quality assurance through formal and informal lesson observations aligned with the Teacher Good Practice Rubric. • Contribute to QFLT/CoP appraisal cycles (as applicable to leadership role). • Support the development and implementation of secondary academic action plans.
4) Academic Professional Development & CPDD • Lead, arrange, and oversee secondary academic CPD sessions and professional development activities. • Work collaboratively with CPDD/LLT to plan and deliver staff development priorities. • Support and contribute to staff training and learning initiatives.
5) Academic Events & Whole-School Programmes • Support organisation of key school events, including: • First day of school • New student parent information sessions • Founder's Day • Community Day • Math Week / Science Week / Science Day • Chinese Book Week / English Book Week • Musician of the Year (Performance Art – Music) • Drama Festival (Performance Art – Drama) • Open Days and Parent Teacher Conferences • Teacher in-service PD Days • Knowle Hall (G6 & G8) core teacher committee activities • Yearbook coordination (including Art/Creative elements) • Art exhibitions and related showcases • Arrange and support lesson planning for students not attending CCP/WCP/Knowle Hall trips. • Support the academic schedule following exams (e.g., G6–AS).
6) Government Examinations & Compliance (Huikao / Zhongkao) • Plan and coordinate Huikao-related assemblies, revision classes, teacher meetings, and invigilator training. • Organise catch-up exam arrangements where required. • Plan internal Zhongkao mocks and lead teacher coordination for external mocks and examinations. • Support Zhongkao subject meetings and relevant teacher briefings. • Coordinate student follow-ups for Zhongkao and Huikao. • Lead parent communications for government examination matters. • Support government academic work and compliance processes, including: • Annual government checks • Spot checks / quality assurance visits • Preparation and submission of local online reports for G6–IG1 (including relevant Chinese core reporting)
7) Parent Communication & Escalation Management • Ensure concerns and queries are directed to the appropriate leader responsible for the relevant area. • Support structured parent communication processes (e.g., “Parents Coffee” sessions and targeted HOD-led parent briefings such as subject deep dives). • Provide necessary parent support and training initiatives where required.
8) Leadership, Accountability & Staff Development • Provide line management for HoDs through regular meetings and targeted PD support. • Support learning walks and peer training/PD activities. • Manage corridor and classroom displays: • Assign boards to departments • Ensure display quality and adherence to expectations • Conduct noticeboard checks and reminders • Support teacher accountability through: • Gradebook checks and reminders • Homework and planning monitoring • MB (Middle/Lower Secondary, where applicable) related checks (e.g., exam data monitoring) • Support academic staff data initiatives, including CEM testing coordination and staff PD on data usage. • Provide data platform training and ensure staff can effectively use the platform. • Conduct semester data analysis and support requests for MB/academic interventions.
9) Student Support & Safeguarding Operations (Pastoral & Wellness) • Support safe-space operations when a student is removed from class/session. • Work with US & LS coordinators and SLT/leadership teams to ensure student wellbeing and appropriate next steps. • Handle staff concerns/conflicts in alignment with leadership escalation routes.
10) Staff Recruitment, Induction & Onboarding Support • Participate in the new staff interviewing process (as required). • Support new teachers in their academic induction and ongoing onboarding. • Contribute to Monday morning briefings and weekly academic highlights.
Requirements: • At least 5 years of leadership experience in IGCSE / AS / A-Level (IG A-Level). • IBDP experience is considered an advantage
